Mocha-Fueled Musings by Jaimee Boake
I wrap my hands around the mug,
breathing deeply,
and it warms me to my core,
like a welcoming hug from an old friend.
Settling down by the window
I relish the sun on my face, the buzz in the air.
Coffee shops, to me, are like airports,
in that I like to watch people come and go,
fabricating the stories that brought them to this moment
in my mind. The first sip fortifies me
and I put pen to paper to see
where these mocha-fueled musings may take me today.
Momentum by Jaimee Boake
A tiny ballerina twirls
on a stage
which looks too big
but is
nothing
compared to her dream.
