Forever is a Beautiful Muse by Megan Kirkpatrick
Outside the window
Snow is turning to rain
And I quietly wish
That for once it could just stay.
In the whole of my years
No snowfall has ever given me reason to believe
That it might
Or it could
Find the courage to stand up to the sun.
A fistful of angry sorrow
Rises in my throat
And I wonder
Why I have suddenly become so emotionally attached
To the comings and goings
Of the weather.
Something tells me
It isn’t really about the snow.
