Excerpt from the book – Joe Volpe’s “That Which We Bring”
“No bee full of sweetness wants to sting.”
I think, perhaps,
the stars aren’t as lonely
as they seem
to us here
standing on damp ground
at a bloodless sky.
Excerpt from Maryam Haniff’s “Courage”
That plague of expectation
Has slowly killed your motivation
That need for society’s affirmation
Has drowned each of your aspirations
Your silent cries no one can hear
And the pressure now, is too much to bear
Your tired soul is overwhelmed with fear
And your rejected heart yearns to disappear
You’re sinking into a darkness
and you just want to end this
But just stop. Breathe. Listen
Look and look again
Look within you, look around
Hope is waiting to be found
Excerpt from Olivia Weeden’s “And Then”
And then I was crying.
Laying on ground,
Shaking like a child
On a cold winter day.
I went to push myself up,
To lift my body from
The Earth’s embrace and
Look at the mess I’d become.
And then I saw them.
For the first time,
I truly opened my eyes
And witnessed the cracks
Permeating my soul.
