Tools recommended by Eve Poetry Magazine include editing tools, writing tools, marketing resources, discounts to print written work, and any other resources Deanna finds helpful in the business of writing. As she finds great offerings and discounts, she will add them to this Writing Tools page! Eve Poetry and Eve Poetry Magazine create affiliate relationships with companies who add value to our lives, and we vet them before recommending them to you!
Scrivener I used to write my novel. It is also the writing tool that every writer I know uses. I can’t recommend Scrivener highly enough. It’s an essential resource for writers looking to write novels, screenplays, or just about anything else. It made my first novel possible!
Scrapple is a resource to help you brainstorm your project. It’s the sister software to Scrivener. I WISH I had known about Scrapple at the start of my first novel. I plan on using it for my next book to help me map my storyline.
While at the Willamette Writers Conference in August, two editing tools came highly recommended: Grammarly and ProWritingAid (shown below). I use BOTH to edit my manuscript. I have the ProWritingAid plugin on my computer so I can edit emails, poetry for Instagram, and check everything for grammar before sending it off to the world. You can go wrong using either program. Both have options to try before you buy.
Creating Poetry or Promotional Graphics
Here’s a Deanna “Life Hack” for you! Have you ever wanted beautiful prints of your poetry? Did you ever think about taking advantage of companies like Minted? Use card companies like Minted (high-end) or Vista to sell promotional pieces of your writing.
I’ve also included other resources below for creating Social Media graphics for poetry or quotes from your books.
The Business of Writers
