Lie with Me

Lie with Me

Lie with Me by Maria McNally

Lie with me
Tell me all your secrets and who you want to be

Hold me here
Close the door and shut the world out without a care

Make me feel
That I’m the only one and what we have is real

Speak my name
Lets pretend this lust is love and won’t end in pain

Kiss my lips
And with that kiss absolve us both of all this sin

Say you’ll stay
Even though we know we won’t make it one more day

Do me one
Last thing before you realise you’ve had enough

When you leave
Erase me from your heart as if we’ve never been

My name is Maria, I’m 32 years old and I’m from the South of England, U.K. Following the loss of a family member and a relationship breakdown, I decided to quit my job in HR, sell everything I owned and follow a life long dream of travelling – and it was the best decision I ever made!

Three years later I’m a qualified TEFL teacher and hope to head back out to Asia to live and work. Travel has given me the strength to carve my own path and live life for myself. Writing gives me that strength too.

I’ve always written poems and verses since I was a child and it’s never been something that I have to think about or make an effort to do. Starting to share my work has been such a positive experience for me as I have suffered with mental health issues in the past and not always been very good at sharing my feelings. Writing is a release as well as an escape for me in that sense.
